India win the First Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 295 runs and go 1-0 up! An important win for India this. They were coming off a very deflating loss to New Zealand with questions around form, continuity of players and their tactics on the field. Australia managed only 238 runs despite resistance from Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh as Indian bowlers outsmarted Australian batters consistently to finish the game on 4th day itself. Both Bumrah and Siraj picked 3 wickets each in the fourth innings.
India would be pleased with the fact that they saw contributions from most of the players. KL Rahul's first innings 26, Rishabh Pant's 37, Nitish Reddy's 41 just as important as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli's century in the second innings. Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, completely outclassed Australian batters - in the process, giving Australia the wounds India were carrying before the start of series.
On the other hand, Australia would rue not capitalizing on the opportunity of reducing India to 150 in the first innings. Their batting is certainly an issue they can't overlook any more. Would they look for a change in the second test? One thing is certain, this series won't be a one-sided affair, and Australia would come determined come the second test. It starts on 6th of December at 09:30 am IST. Do join us back!

End of Day 3 at Perth! India didn't just dominate the day, they dented any hope Australia may have had by picking 3 wickets in just 25 minutes of play! Australia end the day at 12 for 3 chasing a record 534.

India declare their second inning at 487/6 after a solid batting performance, setting Australia a monumental 534 to chase. Kohli made a controlled and very comfortable 100 not out. Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal set the foundations with his magnificent 161. All and all, a very satisfying inning for India both in context of match and batting unit's resurgence.

End of Day 2! An excellent day for Team India as they stand 218 runs ahead with all wickets intact. It's been two contrasting days of Test Cricket and they have both ended India's way. Australia would need a miracle to either win or save this test match from here. As for India's openers, they have played with a lot of discipline and maturity, and that surely would have given a huge boost to the entire Indian batting unit. At the end of Day 2, India 172/0. Jaiswal 90, and KL Rahul 62 not out.

Based on the first two innings, its clear that batting gets relatively easier after the first 30-35 overs. The pitch too seems to have baked down a little and could behave like a first day afternoon pitch - more settled for batting. That will be in India's mind as they go into their second inning. Anything over 250 could prove to be a difficult target for Australia to chase.
Australia's lower order added some crucial runs as they finish their first inning at 104. Mitchell Starc turned out to be their best batter with 26 runs off 112 deliveries, which is also the most balls faced by any batter in both the innings till now. Consequently, Australia's 10th wicket partnership was their highest, adding 25 runs to the total. For India, Bumrah and Harshit Rana did the clean up job, with Bumrah picking up a fifer on his very first ball of the morning (5-30). India will have a lead of 46 runs going into their second inning.

End of Day 1 at Perth! Australia reeling at 67/7 after India were bundled out for 150 in their first inning. Indian bowlers, much like their Australian counterparts, turned up the heat, with Bumrah spearheading a relentless, fiery assault. Tomorrow, India would be looking to restrict Australia under 100, and for Australia, Alex Carey will be the key player. Join us back at 7:50 am tomorrow morning for more updates.

India folded for 150 in 50 overs on Day 1 of the first Test, undone by Australia’s disciplined bowling and their own timid batting. Hazlewood shone with 4/29, while Nistish Reddy's 41 and Pant's 37 were the only notable performances from India's side.
